November 17, 2019 – Max Lucado – The Holy Spirit as the Fire of Heaven
1. Tongues of fire.
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came
to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. (Acts 2:2-6 NIV)
2. The Holy Spirit empowers Christ-followers to speak the heart languages of the world.
“…do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” (Matthew 10:19-20 ESV)
3. What is your language?
“Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how He has had compassion on you.” (Mark 5:18 NKJV)
CHALLENGE: Ask God to reveal one person in your life to share your faith story with this week. Invite this person to lunch or coffee and as you tell your unique story, share the story of Jesus and the difference he has made in your life.
