“At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, ‘Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?’ which means ‘My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?'” [Matthew 27:46]

Abandoned. As Jesus looks for God it seems he cannot find him. For the very first time, in all of eternity, Jesus and God are somehow separated. The Trinity appears to be divided. Why would this happen? Because in this moment, on the cross, Jesus Christ is anything but righteous. He carried all our sins in his own body.
